  1. If I were to do this before a training session I’d have a dog who was too tired. She has a lot of energy for her size and she’s really quick but as she’s so small she gets tired quickly. Half an hour of fetch and she’s dead. ๐Ÿ˜‚

  2. Thank you for this. I have a 9 month old German husky mix dog and shes my first pup got her when she was 3 months and I made the mistake of being that over indulging owner and giving her too much freedom because I wanted her around me all the time. Oh boy do I have huge dog troubles because of that ๐Ÿ™ she thinks shes alpha female and doesnt respect me most times. Shes destroyed my house multiple times furniture and all because shes intelligent and gets out of her cages and kennels. But since watching your videos and hearing you talk about a majority of the problems I have with my dog I have confidence I can switch her around with the techniques I’m learning from your videos. I’ve seen your channel and I’m irritated with myself for not following and watching every video sooner ๐Ÿ˜ค I’ve watched certain ones like potty training and the biting how to sit and those she stuck with, YOUR VIDEOS REALLY DO HELP

    1. omg the parallels. i have some sort of german husky mix and ive had him two months and i let him get too comfortable. hes my owner now. i actually only have 5 minutes left of allotted youtube time for the night before he makes me come snuggle him. the smarter the dog the more devious they can be. my little guy like to trample other dogs smaller than him.

  3. My dog is a fetch PROFESSIONAL ๐ŸŽพ He never tires of it! I need to teach him to go around me though…thatโ€™s pretty snazzy! Cool video! My dog earned a Canine Good Citizen certification thanks in part to implementing the things I learned from your channel! โ˜บ๏ธ

  4. Love, Love, Love You Zak! Thank You so very much for helping ALL people be better dog owners/understanders. Just as I am a truth-teller as a counselor: Itโ€™s the parents, not the kids (they donโ€™t raise themselves!); Itโ€™s all of us who are responsible for being positively educated dog owners (no โ€œbadโ€ dogs, just ignorant/sometimes abusive people). Iโ€™ve seen too much of this…weโ€™re all so lucky to have you!๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿถ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿถ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ’ซ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’•

  5. You could also train a โ€œsettleโ€ command. You just mark, reward, and attach a command to relaxed behaviours. Like putting their head down while laying down or shifting hips while laying down or (in relaxed situations) yawning and licking lips. This gives them a broad command that means โ€œok its time to relax and settle downโ€.

  6. I think this video should have been titled “The benefits of fetch” or “Getting out extra energy.” While your fetch resources are very good, I was hoping this video had more information on calming your pet and not just exercising them. I know that exercising your pet is critical to getting good training sessions in etc. and I have a great frisbee/tennis ball fetch game in play for my GSD and I. What I am currently struggling with is calming my dog to get her to these activity areas or getting her out of the house. I know she will obviously be very excited when she knows she will be going outside or to the park but I would like to know how to calm her so that she isn’t running into the door or crying loudly and losing control on the way to activities. I think this is an educational video just a little misleading.

    1. @graceaware lateWatch has a very good idea. What can also help is to randomly do “fake outs.” At times when you do not plan on taking them out, casually get the leashes, go to the door, act like you’re going to open it, then just go put the leashes back. It helps desensitize them a little from seeing you go through these motions.

    1. my dog does not calm down in any way. If I put him on our room upstairs he will just cry and cry an cry but when I put down stairs, he’s perfectly fine, please tell me what to do, I want him to be comfortable on our whole house and not just downstairs

    2. mary’s world you’re allowing your dog to understand that him crying gives him attention. in his head”if i cry i’ll get go get out”. Hes fine because hes used to you putting him downstairs when he cries

  7. “You’re not entitled to a well-behaved dog.” That’s what people need to understand. You want a pet? Then do everything that required in taking care of him or her.

  8. When I try and play fetch with my puppy he gets even more excited and quickly abandons the toy and goes for me instead… He’s torn holes in a few of my shirts and pants already

    1. @anegondia thankfully he grew out of it. He still gets a little bite happy during playtime every once in a while but I just remove my hands and say โ€œgo get a toyโ€ and heโ€™ll bring me back one of his toys to play with.
