  1. I really appreciated the reminder to be sincere, patient and focused when training your dog.
I am a mother of 4 high energy kids and my attention is always divided. These little reminders really help.
Also, I felt that your advice on how one can not train a dog when frustrated or stressed in tone. As I absorb these little treasures of advice, I am learning to parent better too. Thank you for your help!!! And your enthusiasm.

  2. I love these videos. I am trying to convince my parents to get a dog and they are convinced that simple problems such as barking can not be fixed. These videos are making them begin to believe that dogs are good. Thanks so much zak!

  3. For me it’s more about training my friends rather then my pup. Because they all say ahhh it’s fine she’s just a puppy, just let her jump! ugh

  4. Thank you, for the first time my two dogs who bark and growl at aggressively both learned to lay down today and be quiet while we had a plumber in our home fixing some issues. This has never happened! Feeling so much more hopeful as a dog owner that I can understand and ask respectfully for change from my dogs <3

  5. I am a certified dog trainer, and have countless of owners come to me that don’t know how to train their dog without using physical correction. Time and time again I talk to them about the cons and problems that can occur to dog and owner bond if you use force, and pain to gain. And it is so relieving to find people like you on the internet that use positive reinforcement, like me, that teach the New way to train the companions. Its a sigh of relief. Keep up the great work

    1. People can be so incredibly stupid… Firstly, the idea that one’s approach at behavior modification should be unpleasant for the dog, shows an abject failure on the part of the individual… I get the impression from many many people that they’re truly unaware of just how intelligent these animals are… I don’t even do “conditional training” (rewarding behavior with treats)… sure it’s a lot easier to get behavioral results this way, but I can teach my dogs to do what I want and need them to do by pure communication… It takes time and patients, but the “bond” that you talk about is something really special when you can communicate with your dog this way… Some folks probably don’t believe this, but dogs understand respect, and respect is a two-way street… They sense that you are dissimilar to them, but they can still make an “alpha” association with you, especially when you maintain benevolent and nurturing feelings toward them…. When you invest time into your dog, and you love them as you would love a child, they know and understand these feelings.

    2. Bad dogs are the first ones to die. We do the same with people or did you forget the electric chair. If you fail to positively reinforce every single behavior then your are using negative methods. You probably have no credentials, robots are out of date sweetheart (not that you are my sweetheart). These experts are fools.

    3. @Leah Dragon I had a dog named Mommy..sh’es gone now…………but, I took her to a trainer and he abused her! He had a choker on her and was yanking her up in the air! My dog was very passive pitbull, she had already been abused by dog fighters..this made everything worse! I called the police, and they ended up sayin it was their word against mine, but she even bled around her neck. Mommy was broken over what happened there the police probably ignored the situation, because he ‘trains’ all their police dogs! To this day, I hate people who do this and call it ‘training, especially him. But I got back, I have been in animal rescue for decades and I spread Mommy’s story and what he did all over social media to all my other connections in rescue…

  6. i am soon bringing home my esa puppy. i am so glad you have this channel. you teach us humans very well to teach our furbabies. my jug is going to be trained to become a psychiatric service dog, and we can both thank you for giving me the confidence to help her help me.
    also… you are cute.

  7. Hi Zak,
In all honesty this has been this first I have watched of your dog training videos. I am completely blown away with how professional you are and also how well you explain and show us how to actually apply this training ourselves.

I have used your tips from this video with my family for the last half hour and there is already a massive difference in Buddy’s behaviour towards others already.

Thank you so much for the awesome videos and keep up the amazing work, you rock man! RJ.

    1. So glad you found it helpful. This video is a few years old and I think you’ll find some of my newer stuff even better! Thanks for the feedback. It helps a lot!

  8. my dog is 2 years old and is extremely hyper all the time. Even when i take him out to the park for an hour and walk, run play with him. it seems like he has an endless amount of energy and excites easily when others are over.

  9. I would just LOVE to see you working with my 5 month of German Shepherd pup! She is so smart and with a trainer like you, it would be absolutely brilliant to watch! 🙂

  10. Thank you! I relate to the “walking down the street with a jumping dog” on every level lol. A leash training video would be great!

    1. Man I think you don’t have a clue. You look like a sociopathic robot that only intends to take peoples money. Just some positive feedback incase you can’t decipher it.

  12. my dog doesn’t jump on me ………but he’s very friendly and jumps on others who want to come say hello to him. Makes it harder to set up a situation for training.
