Angel will be 7-8 months old this winter. I think Im gonna sign up like end of January.
I would love to hear your take. We (my wife and I) introduce recall first. We find that it pairs with the dogs attention onto the owner, reinforcing paying attention to the owner over distraction. We reinforce by teaching the owners to recall without distraction, building that dogs interest in the owner with positive reinforcement. All that interest and attention then reinforces the attention during sits and downs. What benefits do you see from withholding the recall and how do you reinforce attention onto the handler/owner? We also do recall on e-collar first and foremost for safety, if that dog breaks lead or runs toward distraction, that recall should be the first muscle memory to kick in when the stimuli is felt in my opinion. In no way saying your method does not work, just bouncing another frame of mind and willing to have discussion on it 🙂
Camera mans ability to walk backwards and not run into stuff is on point
