When you said “would you want your dog doing this in public” It made me think of parents and how their kids embarrass them in public.
Me too.
I thought of the same thing.
I embarrassed my parents in public. It wasn’t their fault. I was a little sh!t doing it on purpose 😂 my M&P were great
Yep 🙈
I was walking through Home Depot with my 4 month old Guide Dog puppy. He had his “Guide Dog in Training” coat on while grabbing and playing with the edge of my sundress. Someone said, “Yeah, he looks like he has a long way to go with the training.” I was like, ‘ Yep, a very long way!”
i think maybe he means they could run into some sort of danger, i dont really think its about embarrassment tbh
Zak – “In general I don’t trust dogs off leash in new places, until they’ve showed me they are extreeeeemly reliable for many months ON leash first”
Inertia – “hey Zak, haven’t you kept up with the series? I’m obviously not reliable on leash” 😂😂😂
Lol.
Well said.
The fear of letting a pup off the leash 😬 gets me everytime. PLEASE DONT RUN AWAY! PLEASE COME BACK! AAHHHHH WHY DONT YOU LOVE ME!!!! 😆
Why dont you love me 🤣🤣🤣
Do it when they’re puppies I got a puppy 3 months ago rn my puppy is 4 months old he’s a German Shepard lab and he always comes to me but if there’s a cat or bird it takes a little bit time but do It go for it
@Anne H. Selland it’s not the dog breeder the dog breeder does nothing. Your saying it the opposite way. It’s how the owner trains the dog. Everyone trains there dogs differently.
I learned my lesson about not letting my dog off leash when my neighbor purposely killed my puppy.
@Langit Ken Sahaja hell yeah😂
A friend asked me, last night, if I’d let my 4 mo. old mini aussie off leash yet. My 1st thought was, are you crazy? He is fast as lightening and can out run me, and I wouldn’t take that chance. He comes most of the time, but not all. We are working on it.
@Confound I ran away and hid the first time my dog blew off recall (in adolescence) – that was the unpleasant consequence for her and it worked – now she always keeps me in sight and automatically checks in when offleash to ensure I don’t get “lost” again.
Luculencia Thats exactly what i thought!
We have a five month mini aussie and we would never let him off leash! We need to train him, obviously, and just got a retractable leash like the one Zak has. He loves parks, but he still acts as though he could take off and never come back….too young, just like a toddler that wanders off. I’ve worked with young children, so I look at it the same way. Good luck to everyone! xo: Jeannie (David’s Jeannie)
The advantage of having a dog when it is a puppy is that If you let him unleashed around you, bc he is just a puppy and is scared of the world, he will look for you. And then he will become use to it growing up and so he’ll not run out. So i encourage people to unleash the puppy when young. (2 months old i’m speaking)
Very funny, my aussie puppy saw a leash first time when she was a night before 11 weeks and needed to get vaccinated next morning. Before that we had had 3 times a day, about 1-2h walks free around neighbourhood + potty brakes on our unfenced yard. She has always come to me, when called and trusts that I don’t take her freedom for too long, now 6 months. She has seen a lot of strange dogs, people and game, and still, she listens cause she trusts on me.
Always tell my clients’ owners…”If you want your dog to come to you when they are wanting to play “chase”, DO NOT engage with em further. Instead turn and walk away like you’re “leaving” them or just sit down with your back to them like you’re not interested in them. If you need them to come quickly, then run in the opposite direction and you’ve reversed the roles of chase and they’ll run to you to catch up.”
Thank you, Zak, for all you do!
Yes! One of my German shepherd/Rottweiler mix puppies love to climb the fence and run off. If we chase her, she keeps running, but if we make a crazy whooping noise to get her attention and turn and run away, she follows! It’s so ridiculous, but at least it works.
I try that is it sometimes work but most of the time my dog runs away because the neighbors have dogs so my dog just keeps running
That’s what I do with my friend’s dog. I walk away and he’s like: ‘Wait for me!’
@rgtrooper13 depends on who you ask. 🤷♀️ but thanks for your concern
Oh….. wait I’m gonna try that
Ah, you forgot the ultimate come here;
“Bye Inertia!” And walk away. She’ll follow.
@Sarah Harvey Oh I misunderstood then 🙂
@Kapri Korni Eventually. I was talking about her first test.
“Living with Wolves” is the doc to watch. This 2020 bs is just 2020 bs 😉
HAHHAHAH thats what i do with my dog.
If I did that Bart would just consider it to be permission to take off on an adventure in the great wide open.
If your dog runs from you, the best thing to do is run AWAY from the dog. Usually they’ll chase YOU…right back home.
@AV_TBK Good question. lol No I guess I’d have to try something else…
GrannyGoose that to me is one of the few issues with positive only training. You’re limited when it comes to these kind of things.
You don’t know Bart.
Yes that usually works. If not, you can fall down and pretend you are hurt. They will come running to see if you are ok. Then grab them and praise them for coming to you.
Hey Zak, just got a new puppy and was wondering how to train a dog not to walk in front of you/cut you off when on walks. Thanks for the help and stay blessed!
@Emily Stevenson is DT
my dog keeps tripping me on walks and its imposibble to train him to walk at your hell 🙁
Turn evey time they get ahead of you use treats to lure and do it once they are tired in a boring environment where there is nothing to smell
This is old but in case you still haven’t fixed the problem, try teaching it heel, there’s great tutorials on this channel and when your dog walks in front or cuts you off just use the heel command and that should fix it !
my pup does the exact same thing! he’s very scared and timid so taking him on walks are a nightmare. I’m still trying to work on this with him, i hope your pup is more confident walking beside you now!
I was lucky enough to have a 7month old Bullmastiff puppy, named Navi, who you could let her off leash anytime, anywhere and she would stay right at your side, and if she would walk a little ahead or show interesting in something all you would have to do is say her name in a stern voice and she would be right back at your side. And she started that at 4months!
that’s amazing! I always feel like it’s rolling a dice when it comes to those kinds of dogs 😅
Inertia: “I AM DO ZOOMIES NOW WHEEEEEEEE!”
Zak: Would she jump in? I don’t think so, but I’d rather not find out right now.
Me: *kinda wants to find out*
I must know!!!
I wonder when people will learn to accept that there isn’t one single way to train dogs and learn to stop judging others so harshly on their personal decisions, especially when they don’t live with zac or inertia and don’t actually know what goes on behind the camera. Some of the people in the comments need to stop pretending like they’re perfect trainers who have never experienced any issues. I’m personally not buying it… make your own video series and see what happens! You’ll probably get a lot of unexpected feedback….
Khyentse Lee you’re willing to complain about grammar and spelling, but not Zak’s terrible training?
@Trooper Lab ok
I cant take yall long talking
Winter Ryvre I video myself training my own dogs and see many errors when watching them back😂😂
Those of you being negative nancy’s. If you don’t agree with the training methods, why are you here? To complain? You need a life. 🙄
I think it’s smart to start off leash early on. Teaching a dog to follow as a young pup helps. As long as being an assertive leader.
When she had an accident, I was like “yes”. “She is a normal young dog” lol. Love the real world senario. Thnx Zak 👍
⁶ut ut ut ut⁶⁶6
@Randi Lowery Are u sick.
yes! But why didn’t he say “No!” and take her outside immediately??
Molly Lipe-Taylor maybe because he wanted to practice with the door on the outside area? 🤷♀️ I’m not sure
I so LOVE that you didn’t cut out her accident! Thanks for keeping it real, Zak! 👏🏼👍🏼
More You Tubers should take note!💙
Zak is simply showing people the “reality” of owning a dog and training a puppy. He is showing us things that can go wrong, he chooses to post these videos for our benefit so I suggest we be thankful not critical. Thanks Zak.
Paul Jansen I agree Paul!
yes ikr!!!!
I think the best website on dog training is DogTrainingSeries.blogspot.com because I personally tried it and it really works… Recommended
@Speak Freely yeah. He thinks he knows a lot. It’s bad training
this is my favorite
Thank you for showing the reality of challenges while training a dog. Watching video of how a trainers dog reacts perfectly always makes me feel like I will never get it right. You keep it real which is exponentially more helpful. It helps me keep realistic expectations of my puppy.
She was like
“You comin?”
And I was like
“Ok”
Lolol I love this channel
She needs corrections in her life. Terrible life without any. Imagine in your life you never had anything negative happen to you.
The pure surprise in his voice when Inertia runs away from him
