  1. I wish this video was around in July! We didn’t start Potato’s outside training until recently and he never listens not even for high value treats like chicken or his favorite (yogurt).

    1. @Lockheart Thank you for this! I’m getting a puppy from across my state in a couple weeks, and I was trying to figure out what he would need for the trip home (it’s about a 5 hour drive if my husband and I do it straight). Nobody seems to talk much about how to actually get your dog home ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Honestly when they are 8 weeks when you bring them home they are just babies. I work FT so I had to wait until my roommate was off work for awhile to get mine so he could help out with letting him out of the crate every hour or so for a bit. I couldn’t have got him if I didn’t have that, or a neighbor who could do the favor. Once they get older you’re fine, my last dog had free reign of the home and I could leave him my entire shift and he wouldn’t have an accident or get into any trouble. But when they are young they need almost constant attention

    2. I would recommend a small closed off area with puppy pads for times you can’t let them out. It also depends on the age. The general rule of thumb is that they can be alone an hour per month of age. (Up to 8 hours) It’s all about preventing accidents and bad habits. Another thing is, if you’re someone who has a 9-5, job or has long hours, can’t come home during lunch, and can’t find a neighbor or dog walker to let them out, I’d recommend simply adopting an adult dog. Puppies turn into adult dogs anyway, and you’ll at least be able to take care of their needs.

  2. You have no idea how happy I am to find all your videos. I have a 9 week old husky. I’ve spent the last three days getting her accustomed to her crate and she now goes into it on command and sits on command. Seriously -after three days..thank you so much.

  3. Just thank you Zak. Brand new dog pawrent of a high energy Hovawart puppy. He’s willful, needs lots of wearing out and is smart! Bought your book and your videos have been a lifesaver when I’m frustrated and we’re not communicating. Also helped me ‘get’ that he’s only a puppy! Thank you again.

    1. I will give you some great ideas, tricks, and instruction that may help you turn your puppy into the best behaved, most happy, jogging, bouncing, slipper-fetching best pal you always wanted?. Watch here > HowToTrainYourDog5.blogspot.com

  4. Got my puppy yesterday and we potty trained him and taught him how to sit when he got home and now we just need to teach him to stop trying to get on the furniture ๐Ÿ˜‚

  5. Can you please do a video on what you need to do and have for your puppyโ€™s trip home for the first time
Iโ€™m getting a puppy soon and you are a massive help, thanks for everything zak

  6. This is helping me a lot. My family just adopted a border collie/Aussie mix puppy and itโ€™s really helping us train little Rex. Thank you for posting so many videos about training puppies, Iโ€™m a newbie when it comes to raising puppies, so Iโ€™m a new mom to him, and I have a two year old so Iโ€™m super busy with both these little ones.

  7. What I learn from these videos is you can only get a dog if youโ€™re unemployed or can take at least 6 months of vacation time and then never ever work full-time again for the rest of the dogโ€™s life.

    1. I have had dogs and puppies that were well trained house pets while I worked full time. I have put down a deposit on a puppy this week (we have not had a dog in 2 years) but may need to wait until 2021 as breeder has had many requests. What I found with last dogs is be consistent in training. Hell positive reinforcement was not even widely used with our last lot of puppies. We made lots of mistakes but still had 2 well rounded friendly family dogs. This time around I do plan on doing more training and more stimulation to reduce puppy damage and later barking at unfamiliar things. Our last puppy ate anything it could get it’s teeth on including the downpipe on our house.

    2. @Tamrika Lanoiselet I Hope you find one! My family had to wait for a long time too and now we are finally on a list for a litter this fall.

    3. @Yes Sir Maybe one felt like that…Indeed it is always a good opportunity to be around your loved ones…when you don’t have an option look at the positive sides…

I was with the view that there should be a complete lockdown of 10 days in a year across globe…Let the earth rest for those 10 days…

  8. I love that you use positive reinforcement to train dogs! I have a 4 month old puppy and I’ve taught her to sit, lay down, heel, come, stay, give paw, “walk home”, “crate time”, “no”, and how to walk nicely on a leash using your videos as guidance. Thank you for your amazing content!
