  1. I don’t believe in being rough with a dog. I can train any dog with love and affection. It just takes a lot of time, patience and constant training. I follow your advise and my shepherd is so smart if you train them with love you will have a smart dog and one that will love you forever.

  2. We need someone like you in the *horse* training world, where the idea of not using physical violence is still seen as “crazy tree-huggers using treats” 😳😥. No animal deserves to be hit, kicked, choked, smacked, forced into something painful and terrifying (unless a life is literally in immediate threat, which is almost never). Everything you say here applies to horses as well.
I have not hit or kicked a horse in ten years now, and my biggest life regret is letting mainstream training practices convince me I needed to. Yet my horses (including a stallion and a youngster) are 1000x safer than horses trained with threats. Science matters, and not just behaviorism, but other domains of psychology, physiology, biology, pain neuroscience, and movement science ALL converge on why force / fear / threats is a spectacularly bad idea.

  3. Zak, fact is: You love dogs, Period. And, you have such a humble, mild sweet demeanor. But, you’ll fight to the end for dogs or any being that you see is being hurt! People like you keep innocence safe. In the grand scheme of things, I agree that dogs in particular should be kept safe so that others can be kept safe. There’s too many breeds of dogs that can kill a man. If one of these big dogs wind up seriously hurting someone, then the world will look. You, your wife and a few others know this. I believe that soon more people will look closer if one of those trainers are implicated in a serious situation involving someone becoming seriously maimed or killed. I hope that doesn’t happen and all you have said in this podcast is remembered if something happens involving D.D. or anyone like him.. I hope what I’ve said is to the point.

  4. If this was a child, it would not be excepted. Why is his abuse to animals being excepted I don’t get it.
Zac, I appreciate you trying to stop animal abuse I wish more people would stick up for us and our animals
Thank you for all you do

    1. I haven’t seen this abuse tho. Can’t comment I’m not gonna bash someone I haven’t like researched 😂❤ but ya I’m listening to his points 🤷‍♀️😂

  5. Thank you for speaking out and educating everyone in a research-based, respectful way. Your wisdom, experience, and kindness are so needed and greatly appreciated. Our dogs don’t have a voice and we must advocate on their behalf. Thank you for everything you do. 💜

  6. I used your methods to train my AmStaff mix rescue pup…she is by far the best dog I have ever had…thank you so much for putting out meaningful, real life, effective content! I will always refer my “new pup owner” friends to you!

  7. I love what you and bree and doing here, I think its so important to educate everyone on why these methods are outdated and only suppress and make these behaviors worse. I used to believe the whole
” pack theory” concept that was promoted by cesar millan but since working in the dog field with a animal behaviorist and researching behavor and positive training methods I quickly learned that there is most definitely a better way to do things. We shouldn’t have to make our dogs fear us to listen to us. I think that all dog owners would agree that we all want a relationship with our dogs and we all want our dogs to feal safe and protected around us. I know that all the dog daddy fans just want the best for their dogs and sometimes have nowhere else to turn for dog training information. The first step we can take to help our dogs live their best lives with us is to be open minded to the research that has been conducted for years and to what the experts have to say. We all should trust ourselves when we see someone hurting a dog intentionally. I hope that you guys will continue to raise awareness about this major issue and that the dog training feild becomes a regulated industry. Thank you and keep it up 👍❤

  8. Zak and Bree, I spent a lot of time learning CM ways of dog training. It’s been really eye opening watching your YT channel. I’ve literally watched several hours of your work and have been converted. Thanks for what you both do for our pups!

    1. I am always confused by such statements. Since I have a puppy 9 months old with separation anxiety (have 5 dogs, but she is the most clingy and with the anxiety), I just searched for videos to address it. A video 3 years old of CM popped up. 15 minutes long – pure positivity. The difference might be – it was not a dog that is absolute violent and aggressive. I still have not seen Zak dealing with complete out of control dogs. And I will never see it. His excuses why we haven’t seen such dogs, are absolute lame. Because this whole “treats and pure positivity” does not work on “broken” dogs. It might work with mild cases. But not with big aggressive dogs that just want to bite or even kill other dogs or humans on sight.

  9. I’ve been watching your videos for a while because well when you need training tips the first thing people search for help is from the internet/ youtube and so I’ve actually learned good tips from you ..,But then I discovered “Dog Daddy” and Ima be honest i was like WOW! in his videos he’s already getting dogs to be so tamed & under control and you get so excited to see that and think well shoot he must be doing it RIGHT !! I was so close to thinking that the methods “Dog Daddy” uses are correct because the way he was quick to shut down the dog and control it just for that moment of the video.I even planned to take my dog to one of his training events but thank goodness i didn’t and Thank You for shedding light on these incorrect practices and giving us correct knowledge overall.

  10. Have been following you for a few years then one day came across this Dog daddy chap. I wanted to reach into the screen and pelt the guy. I couldn’t believe he was allowed to do this and the fact that the owners just stood there and did nothing when their beloved pet was being yanked, made fearful, choked, etc. Unbelievable. I believe this is indeed a case of animal abuse disguised as training. In plain sight.

  11. Zak, I’m behind you and your cause against inhumane dog training methods and applaud you for speaking out against any trainers who use these methods! Love and hugs to you, Bree, Inertia and Veronica!!!💞💕💞

  12. Bless you for everything you do! I know it’s not easy when people jump at you and get really defensive, gaslight you and keep repeating arguments with no value that you already adressed. I admire you for standing up despite this! I would not have the confidence to stand up against so many people.

Now, I got a German Shepherd a couple months ago that the owner couldn’t keep and needed to find a new home ASAP. He still have a lot of issues and barks a lot. I tried many times to tell him to be quiet, I did not know how to stop him from barking. Then I found your videos on how to stop dogs from barking. 3 days with training and he have already made significant improvements! It is evidence on how effective positive reinforcement truly is! Instead of punishing him and telling him NO NO, I instead taught him with treats to stop barking and it was much more effective.

I have a labrador also who got traumatized when he was a puppy, he got attacked by a dog and today he lunges and screams in fear when we encounter other dogs on our walks. By playing the engage- disengage game we can now be close to and pass (with some distance) other dogs without him screaming. He still lunges a bit but it is also slowly getting better.

  13. Zak, thank you for helping us help dogs! Dogs need us to help them feel loved. Dogs should not be afraid of us. Dogs need to trust us! We need to earn their trust with humane and kind treatment.

  14. Only halfway through this but thank you for posting Zak & Bree. Bree, you are so articulate & you have a talent in finding the perfect examples, from video footage, at the right time in the conversation. A great team!

What you clearly show in your training is a RESPECT for dogs.. for their space & their comfort levels.

Too many pseudo trainers, & the public, demanding respect from a dog, instead of earning it. Why should a fearful dog respect us if we, ourselves, have shown them no respect & understanding??

I guess I value dogs’ lives & needs as much humans. Truthfully far more! I think dogs are our greatest teachers.

  15. Dog Daddy puts fearful dogs through exactly what they’re afraid will happen, thus cementing into the dog’s mind that they are right to fear.

  16. Like most of us I have been a dog lover my whole life ❤ as a teen I got really interested in dog training and found Victoria Stilwell and Cesar Millan at the same time. In one of the first episodes of Cesar I watched, he reached a foot behind himself and kicked the dog in the flank. I watched the dog panic and listened to him say it didn’t hurt the dog just surprised it. Even as a teen I hated the reaction the dog had and didn’t matter to me what he said about it. I turned him off and never went back. I watched Its Me Or The Dog instead and began finding more dog trainers that focused on better communication and positive experiences. Years later and I’m taking courses to learn animal behavior and have people like you and Victoria Stilwell to thank.
Thank you for always talking about the science of it and pointing out behaviors/body language In the dogs you work with 😊

  17. I‘m happy to report that in Germany (where I am located) such abuse against dogs has been outlawed by the animal protection act. It is punishable as a crime and the state can take their dogs away and forbid them from owning a dog in the future. Well done Zak and Bree for standing up for innocent animals. Love what you’re doing.
