Boy, can attest that progress isn’t linear. One day your dog seems to really “get it” and the next they seem to have absolutely no idea what you want them to do. You’ll take very small steps for weeks, then a huge breakthrough (or vice versa). Taking steps back doesn’t mean your dog is dumb, it means your dog is normal. If you are frustrated and can’t put it aside, put the entire training session aside and come back to it after you’ve calmed down.
