Complete training session with 9 week old puppy

This is an example of a complete training session with a puppy. I frequently get asked for a video of a complete training session with no edits. I like to work on multiple behaviors in the training session and I explain why in the video. I’ve had my puppy for a week. I keep calling him 8 weeks in the video but he turned 9 weeks today.

Here are the puppy training tutorials I mentioned in this video:

  1. You are do amazing at training your amazing and cute pup! Going to be so smart when it’s older!! 🐾 Have fun training! πŸ₯°

  2. You are so inspiring, Emily! I am so happy this little boy found a home with you and your other dogs!! I have always felt that animals perceive our energy and intentions even before we say a word. By holding the mental/emotional image of what you’d like them to do, as an invitation rather than an imposition, you can have wondrous breakthroughs…just as with people!! You have such a caring and loving aura, no wonder how calm and sweet are your dogs!! πŸ’œ

  3. This is the session I’ve been waiting for so long! Thank you so much! Very helpful since the focus is on how to train and not on what to train.

  4. I’ve always been taught to do one training session at a time. I see that it is possible to show several things in the same time. it’s very interesting. Thank you ! πŸ˜ƒ

  5. Fantastic video, this is the sort of thing I feel like most puppy owners need direction on, specifically, how should a training session for a puppy look. I feel like it’s way too easy to under-appreciate how much progress comes from regular sessions like this at a young age.

  6. Hello, we have recently adopted a puppy and have been using the positive reinforcement model for training. Your videos have been absolutely wonderful, and I want to take a moment to thank you for sharing your time and wisdom.

  7. Have been following you for quite some time now and I really like how you work with your dogs <3 I have two thirteen week old chihuahua puppies that are siblings and this is my first time having two puppies at the same time and it is a bit challenging to train them so I am wondering if you have any tips for me? I also have their mother and an older chihuahua female but they aren't trained with clicker because I didn't know about clickertraining back then

  8. Fantastic video, Emily. Such helpful and useful info. Your pup is adorable! I wish I would have known all of this when I got my puppy a few years ago. Definitely saving for my next puppy. Keep the puppy-training videos coming!

  9. Totally love your handling skills. You know you’re good, and a lot of us think you’re great. Your dogs all think you’re fantastic. Great video Emily

  10. Love your style, it’s so progressive and you can tell that your pup is really enjoying the session. You’re also fantastic at explaining each piece. I’ll be happy to recommend your videos for my clients’ extra learning.

  11. I really enjoyed and appreciated this video – thank you! I have a 9 week old puppy and seeing how you work through a full training session is very informative and appreciated! I will start modifying the way I run through our sessions after this. Thank you again!

  12. Wow! This video is EXACTLY what I needed to see! I have a 9-week old puppy about the same size and have been training with her food. This cleared up so many questions that have come up over the last week of having her. I’m so grateful! I’m also not sure about her name and I was afraid I was causing her some kind of existential angst or something by not having given her a name yet.
