Off Leash Training Without a Shock Collar #dogtraining #dogtrainer #offleash #leashpulling #puppy

Watch this full episode to learn all about using a long lead to improve your dog’s training! https://youtu.be/tB4ocofBZc8

This is what I look for when I’m in the early stages of using a long lead to teach a dog how to walk nicely next to me.

One of the huge benefits of teaching your dog to walk near you like this is that it simultaneously teaches them skills they’ll need for OFF LEASH training, as well as walking politely ON a leash!

Does your dog pull on leash?

The lead in this video is a 30 foot biothane long lead 🙂

    1. How can I get my bichon frise that is highly motivated by interaction with new people and dogs. He doesn’t care about food or treats or nothing if there is a another dog around

    1. My neighbor’s husky was trained this way from the start. She’s lovely, on and off leash…until my dog is around, when their need to play together overrides all other thoughts. 😂😂😂 It can be done!

  1. Americans are obsessed with using shock collars. It’s laziness to use any type of punitive training. If you’re not going to put in the time using methods taught by Zak etc, do not get a dog!

    1. There is a huge difference between a low quality electric collar and a high quality one. Just like there is a huge difference between a low quality harness and a high quality one. There is a huge difference between low quality training and high quality training as well. Everything you see happening in this video is done in high quality ecollar training. It is not a short cut. It is not lazy. It is in fact MORE work because I taught my dog a amazing recall with R+ and heel and then taught her the concept of collar pressure, just like you teach a puppy that GENTLE (I’m not talking about old school corrections, I’m talking about true leash pressure through reward based systems) leash pressure means move with me. My high drive coonhound bully mix response to a level 6 out of 100 on a mirco educator by ecollar technologies on an open trail in the woods. Stimulation means hey I need to move towards mom to get my reward, just like leash pressing. The mirco collar she uses is intended for toy breeds and is probably one of the “weakest” (for lack of better term) collars on the market. For reference I can’t feel anything below a level 20 on the sensitive skin under my eye. IF my R+ recall failed, which would be unusual, I have a way to communicate with my dog. Please don’t hate on something you don’t understand. I am not saying this is how everyone does it, and that ecollar can’t be used badly because they can! I’m also not saying everyone should use them because I respect it’s not to for everyone! But I have also seen dogs with permanent spinal injuries from front clip harnesses. The most important part is not the tool, but the user. Let’s all try to learn from each other because I truly believe we would find that many of us have more in common then different.

    2. @Girl With Pupsno, there’s no difference in the skill of the owner, which is poorly if you need to use these cruel tools.
It’s animal abuse and should be illegal, just as chock collars – ALL chock collars – are in my country. Thank god for that.

    1. Either collar is bad. If you don’t have the patience or the drive to bond and learn about your dog. You don’t deserve one. Shock and stimulated collars is a lazy form of dog training and it’s only effective when the dog is on them. Not when they are not wearing them.

    2. @Summer J can you please send me a video of your dog doing all basic obedience commands even 90% successfully focused on you right outside a dog park, on a normally busy sidewalk, at the beach, etc.? Thanks. If you are unable to do that then there’s a good chance of bad accidents your dog may get into when crossing paths with other people, children, and dogs. Maybe you don’t deserve one. Your last statement also shows you are not knowledgeable about responsible use of e collars, so maybe don’t comment🤙🏽

  2. The difference between you and dog daddy and all the other trainers they do real life environments and situations. All you do is talk and quiet environment with no distractions. Stop the bullshit because real trainers train everywhere and anywhere and all different types of dogs.

    1. if you don’t like Zak George’s style of training, I’m going to recommend that you go and check out another YouTube trainer named Stonnie Dennis. He uses no prongs, no shock collars and I’ve never seen him use any corrections in his videos, and yet, there are always loads of dogs running off leash.

    2. @J Wilkookay please get Zak to do a Live video of inertia in a public setting like outside the fence of a dog park that has dogs in it, a public sidewalk, a beach, etc., while doing all basic obedience commands at even 90% focus on him. Lol

  3. Using the shock collar is not dog training all of my dogs have always wanted to do what I asked them once they understand what I want. I always have some kind of reward in it for them what I asked them to do is less than what they get in return. When they are puppies I teach them to give me anything out of their mouth by asking them gently removing it the moment they released it I praise them beyond the heavens and then I give them something better. I can take the juiciest bone out of my dog’s mouth I don’t even take it out she will release when I say release and now that she’s an adult the praise is enough I just tell her she’s a good girl. Usually I give it right back but sometimes there are things I have to take away and now she doesn’t care. The point being a shock collar is abuse and I see all these Yahoo guys on Instagram and Tik-Tok with their High Drive breeds that their shocking the living soul out of but they have their remote control dogs to do videos with. Sickening

    1. It’s nice when you have a dog that wants to please. Some dogs don’t though. The correct time to use an ecollar is when the dog ignores a command he already knows, not to teach a new command.

    2. Please send me a video of your dog in a public setting like outside the fence of a dog park that has dogs in it, a public sidewalk, a beach, etc., while doing all basic obedience commands at even 90% focus on you. Lol

  4. Hey Sam here’s an idea let’s see this training with big high prey drive dogs. It’s a reason you stray away from certain breeds on your channel lol 😂
