Protesters Confront Dog Daddy in NYC #dogtrainer #dogtraining #zakgeorge #dogtrainingrevolution

Earlier this week, we promised that the voices of those concerned with “Dog Daddy” Augusto DeOliveira’s training methods would not go unheard. Today, that pledge came to life as dog training advocates including https://instagram.com/sitstaystella_ courageously engaged Augusto in a dialogue about his dangerous practices.

As onlookers gathered, the conversation unfolded. Augusto’s followers and the public were invited to join in this critical examination of dog training methodologies. While differences remain, today marked a significant step toward a more informed and compassionate discourse.

We are so grateful to Lauren @sitstaystella_ for her bravery, and to all who continue to seek the best for their dogs, guided by evidence and empathy ❤️

    1. This is not jealousy. His training skills are incorrect and actually make the dog worse. There was a food aggressive resource guarding dog, and he picked up the dog by his collar I think it was and putting his hand by the dogs food, there’s many more to him about him abusing and even killing many animals

    2. No he trains then incorrectly and forces dogs them to be trained

You need to take your time with dogs and let them come to you!

    3. This isn’t about jealousy or a personal vendetta. The issue at hand transcends individual accomplishments or rivalry among trainers. What we’re confronting here is a methodology that we believe can be harmful to dogs. We’re not focusing on the negative to overshadow our work; we’re shedding light on practices that we think need to be reevaluated for the welfare of the animals. It’s a serious matter that requires open dialogue, critical thinking, and a shared commitment to improving the lives of the dogs we care for.

    4. No, it’s not about jealousy. It’s about calling out and putting a stop to dog daddy and his abusive training methods which emphasize compliance over the physical and emotional wellbeing of the dog and promoting an approach to dog training that is more focused on the relationship between a dog and it’s person and getting the behavior we want without putting the dog into a high stress and anxious mental state. You know, treating our dogs with love and compassion rather than just applying brute force to gain their compliance.

  1. Oh my gosh, the Trump supporters came to protest One of the best trainers in America. I can’t think of anybody who would protest you dog daddy. I can tell they need a good therapist😂

  2. I have seen his vids your are supposed to give them time and be calm with them but how he dose it is pulls them and makes them do thing they don’t want to you have to take your time with dogs not force them to do the things you want to!

    Also Zak big fan!

    1. It’s great to hear from a fan, and I appreciate your thoughtful insights. I wholeheartedly agree that taking time with dogs, remaining calm, and working with their natural instincts is a far more effective and humane approach than forcing them into actions against their will. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and for supporting a compassionate and evidence-backed approach to dog training!

  3. Just watch It’s Me The Dog
She’s able to fix a fearful, aggressive, etc. Dog with positive reinforcement only
She also trains the owners because most of the problems the dogs have are from them
If the dog is in danger, she does take them away to a safer home

But if you truly want to see bad behavior, get fixed by positive reinforcement, watch her
Then, came back after a week of watching her straight and tell me that a dog still needs to be choked, shocked, beaten, etc. to behavior perfectly

    1. @zakgeorge  I was lucky to have watched her, then you first, before any other dog trainer
Even dog trainers say Cesar Millan (Dog Whisper) isn’t good because being dominant isn’t the right thing to do

A friendship with your dog is teamwork
We aren’t dogs, so punishment isn’t going to work
Also, we don’t choke a person who’s being fearful, no, no, we be nice to them

And if you’re able to train dogs and Victoria Stillwell can, too, with positive reinforcement training, then why go with the abusive route anyway?

    1. Zak there are many many trainers that i like on social media – you are not one of them. That is not because i disagree with positive only training but because your posts against this guy are childish and unprofessional. He is not ‘aggressive’ in his vids he is calm and asssertive and unlike you you continually shows his results on problem dogs. I notice you speed up the video to make the corrections seem more harsh 😂😂😂.
Why dont you worry about your business mate and let him worry about his….and dont say this is because you care about the dogs he trains because unless you donate most of your training fees to countries where dog abuse is a real problem then that is b.s.
This is coming from a dog trainer and animal behaviourist.

    1. What she means is that you need to prioritise de-escalation so that the dog is more receptive to the training. And she correctly identifies the fact that the dog will be more comfortable working with their person, rather than a stranger whom they are afraid of – and rightly so, as he yanks these dogs by their necks all the bloody time.

I think a lot of people looking for quick fixes are pretty much just too lazy to go about it the right way. Instant gratification is very powerful, but it is not what is best for the dog ultimately. We really should know better at this point.

    2. @Aurora You need understand a lot of the aggressive dogs he works with are those that owners cannot handle, other trainers could not handle and are near that stage of having the dog put to sleep. It is very often the owner that makes dogs this way cause they show weakness and put the dogs in the position of having to be overprotective of them.

How long do you think this deescalation takes even as all know many aggressive dogs are being put down every day cause they cannot be re-homed? If deescalation of these aggressive dogs was as easy as you pretend, there wouldn’t be thousands receiving lethal injections every single day due to their aggressive behavior.

The dog needs a leader who can gain its respect and trust. This is what Augusto does. He gains respect and trust and in the process also teaches the owner how to do the same.

He’s saving the lives of dogs and also saving owners from large lawsuits and you are triggered cause he touches aggressive dogs to desensitize them to the human touch? If that doesn’t sound real crazy and irrational to you, it should.

    3. @Kev J oh, I don’t for a second claim this is an easy thing to fix, or that any aspect of it, de-escalation included, is easy. Don’t get me wrong, I have full appreciation for how difficult being in this position is.

However, I do not agree that aversive methods like DD’s are gaining the dog’s trust or addressing the underlying issue behind the reactivity. Positive punishment is merely the understanding that anyone will comply to prevent an unpleasant outcome, the only difference is in how much pressure it takes for the individual to reach the breaking point.

That dog does not trust him, he’s simply afraid of the consequence of getting out of line, and is acting out of self-preservation. I believe, too, that this makes the dog more unpredictable, not less. The way any dog pants after being handled this way alone suggests to me they are under extreme stress.

This takes time. Absolutely it does. But the answer is, in my estimation, not found in abusive methods.

    1. Yeah, super brave to approach a trainer you try to discredit on his work with agressive dogs while he walks his own GSDs and said GSDs ignore all the hostility from the public and never react. Immagine now calling said trainer out on his qualifications while you have the proof right in front of you, showing you his qualifications. One last lol goes to the lady that goes “emotional supression” like its a bad thing…. more like they all got a healthy dose of “eeeemotional daaamaaaage” from DD. Good Job my man

  4. This is insane if you have not worked with the dog Daddy you shouldn’t speak up he is not cruel and the dogs he handles Zak George and others won’t even touch because they can’t and that’s okay everybody’s got what they’ve got to do but most of those protesters would not be able to help any of those dog owners who willingly come to the classes and walk away with a dog they know how to control without abuse or fear

  5. You know he trained his dogs well when there’s so much hostility and they don’t react to it negatively when they know exactly what’s going on

  6. Don’t touch an aggressive dog with your hands? Sort of hard if you are living with one…These people are clueless…Went to dog obedience classes for 20 years…with trainers that trained for the show ring. All work was done with the chain correction collars and we were showed how to use them properly. Never saw any of the dogs react negative to the person holding the leash. And most dogs need to be taught basic obedience commands before going on to agility classes. I tried a few positive treat training classes with a Lab…by class 3 we were out of there…a waste of time…Ha…you can’t take an aggressive dog to an agility class…clueless people…

  7. Thank you for confronting this man whose methods look very questionable! His own dogs in this clip look very disengaged with their environment.

    1. Is that the pro trainer in you that tells you that or…. to your second point, thats the whole point of what he does, instead of the dog caring for anything and everything he gets them to focus on him and follow him like any other good trainer. Educate yourself before you wreck yourself, goes for Zak as well

  8. You must be really proud of yourself. Having nothing better to do than harrass a honest working person and still have the gull to try to be smart with the guy while denying him his livelyhood. Shame on you. From a dog trainer perspektive what the whiney voice Lady says Is right but for behavior modification the standards are not the same and then the other Lady goes dont touch an agressive dog with your hand (feet are ok btw) and ruins everything. There is no reason to touch an agressive dog. So helping the dog is not reason enough. Dont worry DD, we got your back

  9. Dog Daddy keep up the good work, we see you dealing with problematic dogs all the time.
“There is no need to touch an aggressive dog”….just throw a hotdog at it 😂
    Zak….🤦🤦🤦
I am a dog trainer and animal behaviourist, positive only reinforcement CANNOT work in all situations.

  10. Posting these sorts of clips only makes you and the people protesting look bad. If you’re willing to go question others methods then at least have the cortesy to hear the answer as well. Instead of these kindergarten tricks of posting rage videos to try to turn fans, sit down and have a conversation with one of these balanced trainers, if not him then someone who works with him or take on one of the challenges about dog training that has been handed out to show there’s a different way to doing it. All I’m saying is that shitposting and constantly attacking someone is not professional no matter how much you disagree with a person.
