  1. Great video. My next door neighbor and I both have reactive dogs and we’ve been doing short training sessions every morning with parallel walking on opposite sides of the driveway. Both of us use the “let’s go” cue if we see them in the beginnings of re-activity (though we try to keep them under threshold) and it works very well to prevent barking and lunging.

  2. Emily–your videos were always good but they are even better in the last year. You explain things very clearly and give good demos. I am constantly referring clients to them as a great resource. THANKS as always for making them

  3. I absolutely LOVE your tutorials and I’ve been referring some of my coworkers who are a little more old school to your videos in hopes to show them alternative ways of training. Btw… gorgeous dog!!!!!!!

  4. Kiko, what is your main tool when dealing with aggression? Classical conditioning i think turns alot of non dog trainers off because it takes time and results may be slow. What do you think is the best tool in terms of results?

  5. Your videos are so inspiring, your methods of training are amazing. The only reason I didn’t give up on my dog was because of your information and tutorials. I have an extremely fearful rescue. He’s afraid of children, leaves, noises, doors, everything! I have been working on learning that the world is not a scary place and your vids are so helpful!

  6. I think the main tool in that case would be: ‘patience’, I would believe. With calmness, patience, consistency and perseverance a lot can be achieved through these methods.

  7. Great. Shared it already as an adjunct to a training session – so THANK YOU! I use the “This Way” cue instead of “Let’s Go” – but hey, the words are irrelevant, I could be saying “Red Tree”! So even that it a great education point to let people know that the cue you put with the behaviour isn’t set in stone. Getting the behaviour first and then adding the cue is more important. Thanks again.

  8. I’ve tried to train my puppy like this for about 1,5 months. I must be doing something wrong, because even without no distractions she will come towards me but then sit. I will be in motion all the time, encourage her to come without sitting down and wait for the cue. Even with the highest value of treats it seems impossible from time to time. Any tips? πŸ™‚

  9. Great video! I was just wondering what you can do when your dog goes into that “tunnel vision” of barking? I’ve been training this technique but sometimes a dog appears through a corner and the barking-lunging starts instantly. I try not to pull, but get his attention with treats and other commands. But maybe you have a better tip?

  10. Great tutorial!
I wanted to try clicker-training my dog and he’s doing allright as it is, but when I take him outside and try to work with him, he’s too excited, doesn’t listen and doesn’t want treats. Do you have any advice?

  11. Hi Kikopup, can I ask a question? I have a dog who gets very excited when we train and what started out as the occasional squeak has rapidly escalated into no-stop (literally!) vocalising. I would gladly reward the quiet bits but there aren’t any. I’ve tried just working on everyday behaviours like “sit” or “down” but he even yells then. Help – he’s a great dog and I enjoy working with him hugely but this is just deafening.

  12. Hi! I saw some of your videos about human or sound reactivity. My dog can be very reactive to other (leashed) dogs. I think this cue might be already useful but do you have some other tips I can use for dog reactivity? Thank you!

  13. Would you please consider doing a video for frustrated greeters? The type of lunging and barking (tantrums?) that stems from wanting to greet everyone but is frustrated because the leash prevents them from doing so?
