  1. I sprained my ankle a month into adopting my dog, but still had to walk him! As I began to heal and we got out on the trail, and was worried that he would pull and I would get re injured. Somehow, I got the idea to teach him the “slow” command, and used his clicker word to reinforce it. Particularly when going down stairs or steep hills, he’s still tuned into the fast that he doesn’t get to charge ahead. If he sees a cat, it all goes out the window, but most of the time is better than none!! 😂

    1. McCann and instructor Carol have a great video of a field Spaniel named Cheerio and an empty dish across the room. The dish represents anything the dog wants. She keeps doing about turns until the dog is on her page. They earn their way on the walk. Joel Beckman’s Rottweiler named Creed video is especially helpful too. Pain messes with their brains. He does the doorway method. You’re not even leaving your house until they’re on your page. Hope that helps.
