Teach Go in Your Crate

This video goes over how to teach your puppy or adult dog to go in his crate or pen and lay in there until released. The next step is teaching the puppy to stay and relax in the pen with distractions and for longer duration. This video goes over the next step: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUzF0g0PwY4

In this video I am training my puppy to go in a soft pen so that I can use it to bring places like seminars and camping. A soft crate is not a good choice to leave a puppy in unattended as they can easily chew through the fabric in seconds. A better option is a metal exercise pen. The pen might need a lid and flooring depending on your puppy.

It’s a pleasure every time. The notification bell is like the clicker for me. I know I am going to get the treat of a fantastic tutorial straight away.

  2. I enjoy watching your videos very much! You make everything so plain and easy. Your teachings make so much sense. Thank you very much. I look forward to the next time I meet someone with a puppy, or dog, so I can tell them about you and this YT channel. <3 Ann

  3. I am currently re-training the crate after not having one for two years. My dog outgrew the first crate even though it was the biggest one I could find in the store. Check his instagram @goldcollie for a picture of him happily munching on his chew inside the crate just a few hours after we got it! Your training style is amazing!

  4. You do really fabulous videos, thank you! I will be watching them all before we get our dog. You are very clear and caring, love the gentle methods you use ❀

  5. Hello! My dog has a crate and we have the bed inside. She sometimes goes inside but not to hang out or sleep. She goes in for a moment and then goes to the couch or follows us around. I put a blanket on top to make it cozy and now she likes to jump on top and actually hang out there sometimes. Should I teach her to like her bed first way before putting it in the crate? Thank you!!

  6. I feel that I’ve made a grievous mistake as my puppy actually doesn’t enjoy the crate because I skipped critical steps without realizing until now. She is 9weeks old and seems to be really smart, will she be scarred?

Or how deeply affected are pups when breaking bad habits? When it comes to teaching her completely new things she is really quick, but understandably I now face difficulties doing this

    1. Thanks. I want for people to find the information I had access to – I had a mentor who trained me for free when I first got into dog training. I also think putting out these videos will help so many people and dogs have a better kinder relationship

  7. hello, I just found your videos and I am finding them really helpful — it is the first time that I have found an approach that fits with my beliefs/approach to working with my dog. Thank you for making this channel! I found your website and am interested in the various courses, but I’m wondering if you do anything in person. I’m based in the Bay Area – would gladly make a trip to San Diego to work with you if that’s possible, or if you ever give workshops in Northern California or something.. Is this a thing? I hope so πŸ™‚

  8. I’ve never seen a crate like this. Where do you get one and what dogs would you recommend this type for? I basically need a crate for leaving the house for about 2 to 3 hours each day not for overnight sleeping
